Osmica (in Slovene figure 8) is a special kind of sale that enables the farmer to sell the remainder of the wine from the previous year and his homegrown food to the guests on his own farm for eight days in the week. This right dates back to the times of Charlemagne and it came to our region with the decree of the Empress Mary Theresa. Since days of yore the wooden signposts decorated with a bunch of ivy kindly invite to the open osmica. The tradition of osmica is gradually gaining importance in the times when the local people and the visitors again like to discover the charm of getting together connected with the roots of the local tradition.
